Avalon Organics Vitamin C Hydrating Cleansing Milk and Renewal Facial Cream

  • Posted on March 10, 2012 at 3:47 pm

In my attempt to rest my skin from using a product that I love but is kind of drying my skin out, I grabbed a hold of Avalon Organics Vitamin C Hydrating Cleansing Milk and Renewal Facial Cream from my favorite health and beauty store, Healthy Options.

First off,  as per package, Avalon Organics Vitamin C Hydrating Cleansing Milk is a soap-free cleansing  agent with antioxidant protection. What it claims:

  • Skin Nourishing
  • Antioxidant Intensive
  • Sun-Aging Defense
  • For Normal to Dry Skin
  • 100% Vegetarian Ingredients
  • No Animal Testing
  • Paraben Free
  • EU Compliant

Hydrating Cleansing Milk has Vitamin C, Lemon Bioflavonoids and organic White Tea gently removes impurities while moisturizing the skin and protecting its natural balance from free radical damage generated by sun exposure.

All of what is said in the package are more than fine by me. I love its being vegan and does not contain all the other ingredients a lot of our usual and locally available beauty products have.

Dickinson’s Original Witch Hazel Pore Perfecting Toner

  • Posted on March 3, 2012 at 8:33 pm

One of the items I have a photo of from my first Health Options post was that of Dickinson’s Original Witch Hazel Pore Perfecting Toner. More than a couple of months since I started using it and I think my skin is loving it.

Dickinson’s Witch Hazel Pore Perfecting Toner 2 fl.oz. (59ml) retails for P59 (approx. $1.40)

I have since been using Dickinson’s Witch Hazel Pore Perfecting Toner in place of Nautreal’s Facial Cleanser. The ingredients of the latter being Licorice Extract, Mulberry Extract and Witch Hazel. My skin is finding the former to be friendlier and non-drying. Somehow after a couple of months of using Nautreal Facial Cleanser, I noticed my face becoming drier than usual.

Dickinson’s Witch Hazel Pore Perfecting Toner is non-drying and good for all skin types. It gently cleanses and conditions pores to maintain clear, smooth and balanced skin.  What I love best about it is it is 100% All Natural.  This toner is designed to:

  • refine pores
  • remove and control oil
  • soothe irritation
  • locks in moisture

Directions for use: Use daily after cleansing or before applying skin treatments. Moisten a cotton ball or pad and apply to face and neck. For best results, use in the morning to prepare and evening to repair for naturally soft and beautiful skin.

Avalon Organics Botanicals – Biotin B-Complex Thickening Shampoo and Conditioner

  • Posted on February 18, 2012 at 8:32 pm

Now that the Apple Cider Vinegar wonder has taken cared of my falling hair issue,  the quest to thicker locks is on and Avalon Organics Botanicals – Biotin B-Complex Thickening Shampoo and Conditioner were right there for the picking when I was doing my “organic” Healthy Options shopping last month.

First off, I’ll tell you what Avalon Organics Biotin B-Complex Thickening Shampoo and Conditioner DO NOT CONTAIN:

  • sodium lauryl or laureth sulfate
  • parabens
  • harsh preservatives or grapefruit seed extract (there are reports that some develop thrush from this)

Avalon Organics Biotin B-Complex Thickening shampoo and conditioner have 100% vegetarian ingredients. Of course, I still was not sure if it will deliver when I got hold of it. Three weeks since I first used it and I don’t think I can conclude just yet.

My first impression was that it was extra rough on my hair. I even thought the “thickening” was an illusion because my hair was out of sorts after my first use. I swear I saw a few falling hairs too after having not seen a whole bunch since I used the Apple Cider Vinegar concoction. That was on the first few times I used the shampoo. But not as bad as before. But now it has mellowed a tad. So methinks I’m giving this product a shot. Two months, tops.

Healthy Options love!

  • Posted on February 17, 2012 at 11:33 am

So I have been frequenting Healthy Options for a while now but I have not really been sharing a lot of my discoveries. For some reason, they have piled up one after the other that I simply just let my laziness to blog get the better of me.

The inspiration now came from my logging in to my Healthy Options account and finding out that I’m 36 points away to being a Gold Card Member! Wooohooohoo!!!! Our family has been getting hold of our organic supplies from Healthy Options for sometime now. I am slowly but surely, transitioning our home to “organic.” As geeky as that may sound, I really would rather not have anything to do with parabens, sls/sles and all those crap.  So far, our bathroom is 99% organic. Which is a great start. Oh well, I have been in this “starting” business for years now. But hey, organic stuff aren’t cheap. So there.

A few of my Healthy Options beauty products staples:  Dickinson’s Original Witch Hazel, Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque, Dr. Bronner’s Magic Soap 18-in-1 Hemp Lavender Pure Castile made with organic oils,  Dessert Essence Jojoba Oil, Alba Botanica Un-Petroleium Plant Powered Lip Care w/ SPF18 Lip Balm in Cherry, Alba Botanica Terra Tints in Bloom SPF8.

Apple Cider Vinegar for Hair Loss, Who Would Have Thought!

Apple Cider Vinegar for Hair Loss, Who Would Have Thought! I was never good at typing out titles for my posts, but those words right there just about spell out how I feel right now, even after a couple of weeks of seeing for myself the wonders of my holy grail of hair loss, my ever persistent hair issue. Yes, I’ve tried a bunch of hair loss shampoos including Phytocyane by Phyto Paris and Human Nature’s Strengthening Shampoo and Conditioner. With Phytocyane, my hair loss became worse and as for Human Nature, no improvement at all.  But the latter was not put to waste since both my boys are now using SLS free toiletries as well. Yay!

My discovery of Apple Cider Vinegar being an effective hair loss remedy came by chance.  I have been suffering from some form of acid reflux since last month. I cannot seem to take in anything without feeling nauseated. I have been eating small portions of food frequently since. Because I wanted to steer clear of having to go visit the doctor and be given tons of synthetic medications and antibiotics, I just thought I’d do my homework by searching for a natural way to cure my tummy issues. Apple cider vinegar or ACV as health forum people would have it, came up more than once. It kind of did not make sense to me at first since my issue is leaning towards hyperacidity and the cure for it is to treat it with another kind of acid? I know! My exact thoughts! But then again, it has been working and has kept me out of the doctor’s clinic.

All Natural Facial and Wound Cleansing

cleanse faceWith the abundance of good non-organic based makeup, I admit to having a hard time sticking to all natural ones. It is just sweet that as hard as it is to stick to all natural makeup, we can always try to compensate by using all natural stuff when it comes to facial cleansing.

NO to SLS and SLES

And because I have been experimenting much on different beauty products, I have almost forgotten the very killers that lurk around our bathroom. I seriously have to do some thorough checking and should stash away toiletries that contain these dangerous ingredients- Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLE) and Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES).

AHAVA Launches Flagship Store in the Philippines

Regular readers know that Kikay Corner’s leaning has always been towards all natural and organic products. This is why I couldn’t be more thrilled to be able to witness the AHAVA Launch and Boutique opening last February 25, 2010.

AHAVA originated in Israel on the rich mineral resource of the Dead Sea. AHAVA is the sole company that has the license to extract these rich resources from the Dead Sea.

AHAVA is the Hebrew word for “love.” AHAVA came to skincare out of love for our native magical environment. Living and working by the Dead Sea, it’s easy to fall in love with the area’s unique topography and mystical charm. AHAVA then began to discover impressive healing powers of its natural resources.

Get rid of blackheads naturally

  • Posted on February 16, 2010 at 1:10 pm

The last time I have had to deal with blackheads was during the peak of “my oily face days” in college. It was crazy how much oil control films I consume throughout the day then and I can never be thankful enough that my facial glands have since tamed in their oil production.

Trying out a New Organic Brand: Body Flavors

Body Flavors was one of the sponsors who provided bloggers some goodies during Blog4Reviews Christmas party last month and I couldn’t be more glad. Aside from my son’s supply of organic VCO soaps running out, it is always a delight for me to try out new organic stuff.
