Turning back the clock with Luxe Skin Rejuvenation Light Therapy

  • Posted on May 4, 2012 at 12:09 pm

The advent of Wellness Generation paved the way for people to not just embrace healthy living but also go into exceptional lengths when it comes to maintaining the skin’s youthful glow. While there are a bunches of more invasive procedure, the non-invasive ones, I will always personally favor.

Having tried the RF (radio frequency) treatment a few times, I really did not see much of a difference. But there is this new anti-aging light therapy/treatment that has caught my attention.

This Luxe Skin Rejuvenation Photofacial Device by Tanda is something I can make use of in the comforts of my own home. Yes, I’m a homebody like that.  Being a non-fan of the metro’s otherwise permanent and horrendous traffic, leaving the house for a facial treatment will never really be on top of my priority list.  The biggest plus is this, it only costs a fraction of the price of a couple of RF treatment packages.  How’s that for savings! :-)

Jennifer Lynn UV Gel Nails by Polished ‘em Nail Salon and Waxing Studio

  • Posted on April 25, 2012 at 12:22 pm

Let me just start this entry by saying that Jennifer Lynn UV Gel Nail Polish is a klutz’s best friend. I finally got to try it out for myself a few days before we left for our Vietnam – Cambodia trip some weeks ago. Because I practically mess up my manicure in less than ten minutes after application, I rarely have my nails done in a salon. If at all, I would almost always have to go back in less than 20 minutes to have the blasted paint redone. Frustrating, I know!  This basically explains why I have a collection of nail polish at home. Doing the polish myself and having them repainted when needed proved to be the most practical to do. But even then regardless of the brand I use, whether it is O.P.I., Elianto, Orly or Revlon, the paint will chip in two days tops.

Two words won me over when I first heard of Jennifer Lynn UV gel nail polish“instant” and “permanent.”  And with my high maintenance nail polish issue, I can’t be blamed! :-P When my dear friend, Iris recommended Polished ‘em Nail Salon and Waxing Studio, I headed right there after I got discharged from my 6 days hospital confinement. I know! I did not have time anymore after that, save for the packing and the last minute shopping for our then upcoming week long trip.

Post Trial Result: Gloww Capsules

  • Posted on April 11, 2012 at 5:49 pm

One of the two essentials I made sure I got packed in my luggage before we flew for Vietnam and Cambodia was Gloww Capsules. The other one was my trusty insect repellent spray. We were told that mosquitoes are really huge in Cambodia and we are not risking our son getting dengue again. The other one is my current skin regimen favorite, Gloww.

Now that I’m done with the two months trial of Gloww Capsules, I can say that I am pretty impressed how my skin stayed just as fair despite the tours that involved a whole lot of sun exposure. Now, just to give you ladies an idea how hot it was in Cambodia. Imagine, the Manila heat, then add half of all the scorching heat to that. I would have stayed in the hotel, if it were up to me. But my very active hubby who loves the outdoors won’t allow me to throw away our once in lifetime vacation just like that. It was actually our first one full week getaway ever! :-)

Aside from sunblock, the whole time we were in Vietnam and Cambodia, there was no other skin care product I used but Gloww Capsules.  I did not bother pack my usual night cream. My toiletries bag was just way too full already and besides, I thought my skin can make use of the needed break too.  :-)

Looking closely at Gloww Capsules

As someone who is partial towards “natural,” a supplement of whatever kind, only catches my attention when its ingredients are made of such and at the very least, BFAD approved. This is what I saw Gloww Capsules to be.

Aside from Gloww Capsules being both. Gloww also has not added preservatives, chlorinated solvents and artificial flavors like most  supplements that are commercially available. Yes, even those that claim to be “all natural.”  I did some research and saw that there are a handful of good feedback from actual users of this product.

Watsons is Going Beyond Beauty

  • Posted on June 1, 2011 at 12:00 am

If there is one place I frequent to get my beauty products replenished, it is Watsons. Of course, I still go to Rustan’s Essences sometimes. But since Watsons is practically everywhere, it has long been my default go to place not just for my beauty needs but also when I need to buy some medicines.

When I got an invite from Watsons last week for an event, I came expecting that yet another interesting brand will be launched. Like similar to the Beyond Bath launched in Manila Hotel last year. Let us just say, I got more than I bargained for. I came in with the above image on the slide. While I already am partial towards Watsons, even when it comes to health products, it is great to know that there actually is a worthwhile advocacy they are pursuing.

Dr. Ancheta explained to the media present how superbug comes to existence and how it can be prevented through visuals.

Product Review: L’Oreal Perfect White Day Cream

  • Posted on February 17, 2011 at 6:22 pm

When L’Oreal White Perfect Day Cream was delivered to my doorstep some months ago I was already sold out to Dr. Jart’s Blemish Balm Cream (Black Label). Now with my favorite BB cream tube going empty anytime soon, I thought I’d shift to using L’Oreal White Perfect just so I’d know how my skin will find it.

Product Review: e.l.f. Natural Eyeshadow Palette

  • Posted on February 4, 2011 at 2:39 pm

Natural Eyeshadow Palette by e.l.f. caught my attention primarily because I am more of neutral eye girl, that is if I would at all squeeze in some extra time to apply makeup. My eyes go color less more often than not. Lazy days. Second is because I love e.l.f.  The size is also perfect to fit in your purse. All for the price of P249.75 (approx. $6)

Since my favorite Brightening Eye Quad in Butternut (by e.l.f. still) ran out, I thought I’d give this palette with 6 shades a try. It was actually my first time to finish an eyeshadow in all my thirty plus years. Late bloomer in the house. :-)

Kiehl’s Facial Fuel No-Shine Moisturizing Lip Balm

  • Posted on January 22, 2011 at 8:48 pm

When dear Frances of Beauty for a Living told me to help myself with her full to the brim container of makeup goodies, it was Kiehl’s  Facial Fuel  No-Shine Moisturizing lip balm that I first got hold of and then some. Thanks, Frances!  The beauty goodies you share with me are just fab! (and pricey, if I may say). Most of which I cannot exactly say that I will go splurge my hard earned money on just to experiment with. With my favorite Aloe Lips not easily available anywhere (I have to go to FLP myself or order online), I knew I was ready to experiment on another all natural kind of lip balm. Although I love Burt Bee‘s giving my lips the color that I want, it just does not perform as well as Aloe Lips does. For the most part, my lips would still remain cracked even if I reapply all day.

Technically, Khiel’s Facial Fuel No-Shine Moisturizing Lip Balm is from Khiel’s Men’s Skin Care Line, which explains the manly packaging. Being someone who was never a stereotype fan, I could not care less if it’s intended for men or otherwise, as long as it works. The No-Shine factor in this balm is basically what makes it designed for men. (But even then, I cannot, for the life of me, have the hubby hear of it – even if his lips go crackin’ with windburn).

My favorite organic lipstick

  • Posted on January 19, 2011 at 5:00 pm

When I blogged about my certified lead-free lipstick in 2008, I said that I have been using it for four years then. Making it 7 years now. Sure, I still buy lip stain and lipstick that I fancy. But this is the one lipstick that I cannot do without. Why, I can even sleep in it and not worry about it causing my lips to darken or whatnot.  The packaging of this herbal lipstick is so cheap, you actually can mistake it for one of those cheap China cosmetics in that are all over our tiangges. Think again! This cheap looking lipstick costs no less than P600 (approx. $14). I was surprised myself. Because if I remember it right, the last time  I bought my previous one, it was just around P450 something.

M&S China Blue Floral Collection

  • Posted on January 12, 2011 at 2:03 pm

As much as I would like to veer away from non-natural toiletries in our bathroom, my more recent trip to Marks & Spencer pulled me to its Bath and Body section. Specifically towards the China Blue Floral Collection.

Admittedly, there are a handful of Marks & Spencer scents that come as a little too matronly for me. Like their Rose collection, for instance. But that’s just me. China Blue did not give any of that hint to my descriminating olfactory sensors. It is my new M&S favorite. The dry down, non overpowering scent works for me.
