A drugstore brand that I personally recommend is e.l.f. Having tried in2it and VMV, I cannot help but lean towards the affordability and quality of e.l.f. I especially love that they currently have a mineral line.

It was a lovely night of sweet body pampering at Manila Hotel courtesy of Beyond Bath Organics last July 27, 2010. Never mind if I had to struggle my way in because it coincided with the concert Lettermen had that night. I actually had to Google them up. They apparently are the original boy band of the 60’s, which explains the demographics of the crowd that night. The trouble was all worth it, I should say.

Now, if you happen to have been following this blog for a while, you already know that my leaning is towards everything organic. So when I received the invitation for the Beyond Bath Organics some weeks back, I knew there was no way I was to miss it.

When I got in the lobby of Manila Hotel Spa, I was all ears. I was really pleased that business people are getting into the “green” bandwagon. Either it be out of sheer passion or by mere dictation of the wellness generation we are tagged with, the fact remains that this effort makes both manufacturer and consumer value our environment all the more.

From mestizas, morenas and chinitas, the Filipina beauty has an interesting range of skin tone palettes that make choosing the right makeup quite a challenge. Choosing the wrong foundation, for example, can mean telltale lines or an unnaturally pale (or dark) complexion. Get it right and no one will notice your makeup at all — just all-natural beauty. This is the inspiration behind the Avon’s Ideal Shade Collection.

Just before I stepped out of Nisce after hours upon hours of pampering treat, they made sure I get to take home some beauty products with me.  I wasn’t really required to blog about this. But given that I do have positive things to say about it, I might as well have the word out.

My ultimate everyday indulgence is my daily bath. It de-stresses me like nothing else. Yes, even more than a spa does! My very reason why I had a bath tub installed when we finally were able to afford to have our very own house built. But even before that, I have made use of make shift tubs and lavished my bath water with bubble bath, dead sea salt or spa milk salt. There’s just nothing like being enveloped in conducive aromas as I relax the stress of the day away. As for the bath salts, Active White Spa Milk Salt is one of the brands that I have been using for a while now. What initially attracted me to it was the inviting scent of orange.

I have always been fair skinned for as long as I can remember. It was not until I hit 3-0 that I actually had to face the reality of having to take care of skin imperfections. Most of which were particularly brought about by abusing my skin, basking on the sun without protection, et. al. Good genes can be an edge, sure. But take it all for granted and the sun will show you no mercy. I currently am sporting tiny sun spots and some nasty milia here and there and occasional pimples.

Although my sun spots are not yet conspicuous, I know sooner or later they are bound to beam the world “hello,” and I’m hoping to have that intercepted of sorts. And the very informative talk during Neutrogena’s launch of their Fine Fairness range last June 23, 2010 at Society Lounge in Makati City, was just the thing for me.  The innovative beauty product claims the ability to replace those melanin-carrying cells with brand new ones.  The hyperpigmentation solution in particular got my full attention.
