There are lots of different styles of braid that can be created, which means that you can choose the difficulty of your style. If you only have five minutes in the morning to do your hair, then two simple braids, one on either side of your head can be perfect. It may be someone’s birthday and you are rushing to buy diamond rings at 77Diamondscom and not have enough time to get ready properly, again the two simple braids will be great here.

To do these, simply separate your hair into two, parting it in the centre and all the way down the back of your head. Then all you need to do is braid each section separately, securing them at the ends with small hair ties. This does not take long at all and your hair will be tidy, out of the way and look interesting. It is also a great style to use if your hairdryer breaks or the electricity goes out. It can be done on wet hair to make it wavy when the plaits are taken out, or hair that has dried naturally and needs some tidying up.

If you have a little more time and want to go for a look that is slightly more complicated, then another great style is the french braid. These come in various different styles, including one down the back of your head, two separate ones, or one to the side. It is not as difficult as it may seem to create these, for example the side french braid can be just as quick to create as two simple ones.

To do this, start at one side of your head by gathering up three sections of the top layer of hair. Braid these a couple of times, then add in more hair. Keep doing this, while working around your head until you eventually gather up all your hair and proceed by completing a side braid. Secure it at the end with a small hair tie and your look is complete.

When I got an invite from Watsons last week for an event, I came expecting that yet another interesting brand will be launched. Like similar to the Beyond Bath launched in Manila Hotel last year. Superbugs are especially life-threatening when they bear the New Delhi metallo-beta-lactamase (or NDM-1). Beta-lactamase is an enzyme produced by superbugs that neutralizes antibiotics. The NDM-1 mutation can be passed from one type of bacteria to another, so that more and more types of bacteria may become antibiotic-resistant. Health agencies like the World Health Organization, the Center for Disease Control and even our own Department of Health have expressed concern over superbugs and their frightening potential to cause a pandemic.

The superbug may be developed inside the human body when patients do not properly use antibiotics. While antibiotics are very effective in killing bacteria, proper use is crucial. When antibiotics are used in the wrong way, not all of the bacteria are killed—the surviving bacteria then have the chance to develop mutations that make them resistant to antibiotics.

The statistics will speak for itself. It is downright alarming, to say the least.

Antibiotic misuse usually starts with self medication and includes taking the wrong type of antibiotics, skipping doses recommended by doctors or lessening the number of days of antibiotic ingestion when patients feel relief. Doing any of the above-antibiotic under dosage or over dosage- may only cause bacteria to mutate to become larger and more powerful and become the dreaded Superbug. Widespread misuse of antibiotics in the Philippines, if not stopped, will eventually create new strains of superbugs that will have no cure, endangering us all.

Although I may do blog about beauty products and how to enhance our looks, I think it is important to remember one thing about what beauty really is: it is more than meets the eye.

We can find alternative ways to enhance our physical attributes, after all. For example, we can chose colors for our clothing and make up that will complement our skin tone. Most of all, we can maintain a healthy diet and lifestyle to make sure we are always radiant Yes, our beauty products can help with making our outward appearance look better, but if we have no beauty in the inside, it will never be complete.

I would bet that almost everybody at one point or another has asked about what are the best diets that work. I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but whenever you gain too much weight, or perhaps do not monitor the kinds of food you eat, it affects your entire being: physically, mentally and even emotionally. The makeover workshop was jumpstarted by Maybelline New York’s Senior Makeup Artist, Harold Santos. He worked on the model and taught us some basics on the 60’s look. Particularly the winged eye look.

Although most of what Harold Santos shared were but basics, it was good to be reminded of them.  Knowing how to do things the correct way do not just make for a good outcome. It also lessens the effort and makes us work on our facial canvas like a pro.  One of which is how to position the mirror in such a away that it is the perfect angle for us to do the makeup application.

An hour after or so, L’Oreal proceeded with the next makeover session. Yciar Castillo, L’Oreal Paris’ Chief Make Up Artist took the floor together with her model.  Here are some of the things I learned as this lovely makeup artist worked her magic on her model:

Kikay Corner has an appointment with Flawless in SM Marikina later today. After reading quite a few entries of fellow bloggers who have visited other branches as they road tested some of Flawless’ beauty services, I will go with anticipation although I am not very sure yet of what will be the recommended service for me to try out.

I’m not much of a fan of beauty establishments such as these. But given that there are actually doctors who will take care of you when you visit and not aestheticians alone, gives me a sense of confidence in them that I used to not have. Probably because I am surrounded by friend and family doctors who have always discouraged me from patronizing such places.

I happen to believe that this industry has no other way but to improve to give their clients a better options. Pampering is the deal and it is what a lot of us can really make use of. I am even thrilled by the fact that some health and wellness clinics already cater to men and their vanities, enzyte perhaps.  Various beauty and wellness establishments must have sensed the need to cater to metrosexual men.
