Kikay Corner is on today’s issue of Philippine Star’s Lifestyle, Fashion & Beauty Section - page I-3. Just allow me to be giddy just this once. Kikay Corner per se, was not exactly mentioned in the article. But it was my name right there all right. The reason I made it on the papers is because as the author of Kikay Corner, I was one of the blessed few (Count: 5 bloggers), who had first dibs on Luster by Kolours.
Ever since I have tried Sassa Activewear in 2009 and figured it is one of those brands that fit me best, I have always looked forward to collections that they usually launch in time for summer.
Sassa’s 2011 Summer Collection is rife with trendy prints and stylish cuts in dainty, bright and happy colors, just like what Summer is meant to be. Gertier Hermanos, resident designer for Sassa says, “My inspiration for the collection this year was paint, lots of bright colors of paint and abstract paintings, too. Summer is such a bright and cheery season, I just wanted to put the same kind of vibrancy you find on a hot summer day on the collection.”

The Penshoppe invite read: Mix, match and make your own style! Step into Penshoppe’s Style Closet and be pampered as we dress you up. And with my schedule free on the given date, who was I to say no.
The day I got invited, the Style Closet was camped at Cybermall, Eastwood. Being the first one to arrive, I saw a bunch of call center agents who were getting styled by Penshoppe’s stylists.
ECO-ETHICAL STYLE takes center stage as Rags2Riches/RIIR Designer Line unveiled its Fall/ Holiday collection of signature bags and accessories. Created by premier designer Amina Aranaz-Alunan, the launch of RIIR-Aranaz’s Fall/Holiday collection is the collaboration of Filipino style connoisseurs – RIIR, Aranaz and Rajo Laurel, who graciously lent pieces from his couture collection to the runway muses of the event.
I am particularly impressed how every piece of RIIR-Aranaz collection has been meticulously-woven and comes with a tag that tells who the particular mother in Payatas made it – creating an instant bond between the maker and the bag owner. It also uplifts the mothers of Payatas out of poverty.

After doing more than a couple of shopping episodes in Makati in the last couple of months, I am finally resolved to the fact that there is no way I can go right back to my size S, let alone XS. My tiny 5 feet frame has always switched from xs to s and back again for as long as I can remember until the first quarter of 2009. This is evidenced by the fact that I cannot anymore squeeze into my normal clothes comfortably anymore.

Although I knew the music “pearly shells” since I was a toddler (was probably even coaxed to dance along to it more than a couple of times), it wasn’t until Jewelmer got us to sit down on a Pearl Talk 101 event last June 25, 2010 at the Jewelmer Showroom in Eastwood mall that I truly appreciated and was totally impressed by this lone precious stone that is produced inside a living organism- the mollusk.
Basics things to know about pearls:
• Pearls are organic gems – which means they come from a living organism.
• Pears are composed of nacre. This is a natural substance produced by mollusks that also coat the inside of the animals shell.
• Mother of pearl
• Nacre is made up mostly of calcium carbonate crystallized in the form of the mineral aragonite.

The launch of Philippine Fashion Week Holiday 2010 last Wednesday, May 26, 2010 was a success! Thanks to Sunsilk Co-Creations who partnered with four pairs of designers. Each look was inspired by the different Sunslik Co-Creations variants, namely: Smooth and Manageable (Arnold Galang and John Paras), Strong and Long (Joel Escober and Raoul Ramirez), Damage Repair (Chris Diaz and Veejay Floresca) and Straight and Sexy (Jerome Salaya Ang and Lyle Ibanez).
