What to Look for in a Sunblock

  • Posted on May 26, 2009 at 12:33 pm

Summer is supposedly almost over. But guess what? The sun is high and soaring like a mad king these days, not to mention the humidity trying to suck all the energy off your body. It did not help that Manila’s summer peak (April) was bombarded with at least a couple of typhoons. The month of April practically rained right through us and now the summer heat is back with a vengeance.

Truth be told, we could use the extended summer season to our advantage. Our family leaves for Boracay in 24 days and we would rather have the sun on our backs than the rain. But with the unpredictability of our climate, there really is no way of knowing when summer will officially end.

Whether the summer will notoriously sizzle on us on our beach vacation or not, we have  to be armed with the highest sun protection factor (SPF) grade sun block we could get our hands on.

Fucoidan Slimming, Rejuvenation and Wellness Center

  • Posted on May 11, 2009 at 2:31 pm

It was late last year when I first heard about Fucoidan food supplement. A very interesting product that was introduced to me from a television show Up Close and Personal with Marissa del Mar over at IBC13. Although curious, I did not get to learn more about it until last Thursday, May 7, 2009. I was invited by Yehey! to visit Fucoidan Wellness Center located at AFPOVAI Village in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig for the Fucoidan Bloggers Event.

The Fucoidan food supplement contains all natural ingredients that is based on brown sea vegetables such as Mozuku (Nemacystis decipens) and Mekabu. Fucoidan is BFAD approved and is cited over 700 studies found in PubMed database. It details proofs that Fucoidan actually can inhibit cancer cells from growing and reduce cancer risk. In the 10 years that scientists have done their research, Fucoidan has been proven to offer these benefits: stronger immune system by neutralizing harmful toxins, cleanses the blood, lessens tissue buildup around key joints and bones, detoxifies the body, fights diabetes by lowering cholesterol and sugar level, fights diabetes by lowering cholesterol and sugar levels, fights cancer cells, helps make skin softer and younger looking, protects the liver. If you come to think of it, it really is the ultimate wellness capsule that has been produced to date.

I was up for a treat that day, nothing short of a slimming treatment that would have otherwise cost a few thousands a pop. My therapist did a low frequency treatment on my tummy area. Maricor (my therapist) started low (17) and gradually increased the frequency up to 30. (not sure what the unit of measurement is called) Being someone who has her funny bone located just right smack at where the pads were placed, I was practically giggling throughout the treatment. What could be more fun than losing an inch and a half off my waist while at it, right? It’s literally giggling off those excess inches in 20mins. Each session of this treatment is equal to doing 250 sit ups.  The treatment costs P5,000 (approx.$111).  But you will get a hefty discount when you avail of a treatment package instead.

A BlueWater Day Spa for the Hubs and Me

  • Posted on May 9, 2009 at 7:45 pm

It was a couple of months back when I wrote an entry about my looking forward to have a spa treat with the hubby. It finally happened last April 29, I claimed my prize on a blog contest I joined, over at BlueWater Day Spa in Capitol Hills, Quezon City. After having had a rather rough shiatsu massage at The Spa the week before that, I was too afraid to avail of the body massage option. I chose to have the foot reflexology and back massage (twin package) instead and I was thankful I did. It was almost like I had a body massage with special treatment on my very eager feet. The hubby availed of the Swedish massage (P650).

We added a couple of bucks and upgraded to a couple’s room and had the room all to ourselves. I love that BlueWater Day Spa is able to achieve the illusion of blue water surrounding (consistent with their name). The Capitol Hills branch could not be more perfect. Situated just right beside a golf course, it’s like a world of its own. Another thing that I like about BlueWater Day Spa is their being able to throw in that deo spray in their common room. Scheduled or not, it is just not me to bother bringing my deo with me to the spa. It should be like a part of everyone’s bath regimen, right? That’s a plus for them on my list.

Life Saving Stem Cells

The first time I heard About the Science of C’elle’s revolutionary research, I felt blessed over again that as a woman there’s even more to just mere childbearing that I can actually contribute to the world and with the fact that the source is from the very inconvenience all women within childbearing age go through every single month.
