The famous Cleopatra, Queen of the Nile was one of the most beautiful women of our history. She had the most radiant, soft, and glowing skin. We all have heard about the perfect regimen to nurture her skin. How she bathed daily in milk and honey.

Here’s her rich concoction adopted for modern use:

Mix 2 tablespoons of each of the following (sunflower oil, safflower oil, peanut oil, avocado oil, mineral oil, olive oil and sesame oil) with geranium leaves. Leave in a dark place for two days. Apply throughout the body as a rich moisturizer.
I know you mtight have heard countless of testimonials about aloe vera’s health benefits. Here’s one for your sun damaged skin. Like grapes, aloe vera has proven to heal sun damaged skin.

Pick out two stems of fresh aloe vera. If you don’t have one handy, a commercially prepared one will do. Skin the leaves and apply the gel throughout the face. leave for fifteen minutes and rinse.

Have you had enough of all these home made beauty treatments.  Wait, I am not done yet.  This is enough proof that anyone can be beautiful.  No need to buy those pricey and extravagant beauty treatments that are mostly synthetic.  Go natural and try this one out.
Mix juice from 1/2 of a lemon.  with 2 tablespoons of water.  Use a cottonball as you dab the solution throughout the face.  Leave for 30 seconds.  This is ideal to close large pores.  Rinse off.  Lemon contains citric acid, vitamin C and sugar.

If you will just give these alternatives a try.  You will find that natural will always prove to be best.
Crush 1/4 ripe fresh pineapple.  Add 1/4 c. water. Mix. Apply throughout the face, taking care not to get into the eye area.  Leave for a minute and wash off.  Try applying this unto your feet for that tingling refreshing feel.  It softens stubborn callouses. Proven to be anti inflammatory and contains enzymes.

Have you ever thought of your table salt more than just adding taste to your food?  Think again.
Prepare a mixture of 1/8 cup of veretable or lite mineral oil with 1/4 cup of water.  Apply the solution to your clean and damp face.  Then sprinkle salt on your face or you can just concentrate on the dry area.  Allow to rest for ten minutes.  Soap and rinse with warm water.

Mash 1/2 ripe avocado in a bowl. Apply generously all over the face, avoiding the eye area.  Appy a plastic mask or aa clean warm handkerchief over the face.  The plastic mask could be made from an ordinary plastic, just make sure to cut holes for the eyes, nose and lips.  If you will be using hanky dip in warm water first and makes sure to squeeze out excess water.
Leave on the face for ten full minutes and wash off with warm water.  Avocado contains rich oils that can moisturize the skin.

Crush six peices of medium sized strawberries (washed and cleaned).  Add 1/4 cup of water and mix into a paste.  Apply to the face avoiding the eye area.  Leave on for 10 full minutes. Rinse with cool water.
This regimen takes off the hidden dirt and make up.  For your information,  strawberries contain salicylic acid which removes dead skin cells.

There are just about endless natural healing remedies that we can make use of from the most non-conspicuous items around the house. If you have oily skin like I used to have back in my adolescent years, you may want to try this out.

Shred 1/4 cabbage head, sprinkle with approximately one teaspoon of water. Place the cabbage poultice in a clean handkerchief. Apply to the face and you will notice in a while a slight astringent effect.

Acne can begin as early as puberty stage and continue on for years. What happens is a hair follicle is blocked by sticky cells that are not shed normally which traps the sebum, the body oil, produced by the sebaceous glands. The follicle that got blocked promotes bacterial infection and inflammation/redness appearance.

I was never an acne sufferer, but I have seen a handful of friends experience having acne for years and it can be frustrating. I am not sure if what our household help back when I first had my menarche told me to do helped any. For fear of having to sport pimple ridden face, I did what she told me. She had me run the underwear I had during my menarch and wiped it all over my face, with the blood and all. Eeww! Thinking about it makes me sick. But come to think of it, it was only a few minutes that I had to endure. And if that at all took effect, it benefited me a lifetime. Which I really can’t guarantee if it was even the reason I never experienced having acne or it was just good genes. But then again, my sister who did not do what I did, experienced having to go to different dermatologists to treat hers in her teenage years, which I never had to go through.
No, that is not the acne home treatment I am to share with you. It was just a snippet of how it was for me and I am not suggesting you do the same thing or even get your daughters do it. It was more of an old wives tale that I chose to believe that time. I was eleven. Again, I’m not sure if that was it that worked but I thought it was my own menarch and my own face, so I am not violating anyone.
So here are some home treatment that you may consider doing:

  • Clean skin carefully with soap and water. I suggest you use Cetaphil because it does work wonders. It is perfect for sensitive skin. It was the only thing I used on my baby’s face until he turned three. It does not sting the eyes, plus it is really gentle on the skin.
  • Steam your face to open those clogged pores.
  • Shampoo daily.
  • Keep hair away from face.
  • Don’t prick acne and pimples.
  • Antibiotics can be directly applied to the pimple such as erythromycin or clindemycin.
