Beyond Bath Organics pampering experience at The Manila Hotel Spa

It was a lovely night of sweet body pampering at Manila Hotel courtesy of Beyond Bath Organics last July 27, 2010. Never mind if I had to struggle my way in because it coincided with the concert Lettermen had that night. I actually had to Google them up. They apparently are the original boy band of the 60’s, which explains the demographics of the crowd that night. The trouble was all worth it, I should say.

Now, if you happen to have been following this blog for a while, you already know that my leaning is towards everything organic. So when I received the invitation for the Beyond Bath Organics some weeks back, I knew there was no way I was to miss it.

When I got in the lobby of Manila Hotel Spa, I was all ears. I was really pleased that business people are getting into the “green” bandwagon. Either it be out of sheer passion or by mere dictation of the wellness generation we are tagged with, the fact remains that this effort makes both manufacturer and consumer value our environment all the more.

Now, I have tried tons, yes, tons of organic stuff- most of them foreign brands. So having our people from our own land embrace the importance of creating quality products in a sustainable manner for the environment is really impressive. Yes, it took us a while. But here we are!

My therapist, Jonah Rose, started off with a very relaxing Beyond Bath Organics foot spa. She used Beyond Bath Body Scrub and Body Wash.

I swear I could have gone off to dreamland after that body pampering treat. I especially love the scent of the Nature Glow products that were used on me during the treatment. They very well complemented the massage and I’d say, I love that it doesn’t have to be a one day treat. I have enjoyed every single day I’ve been using the body wash since I got hold of it.

My next concern was if Beyond Bath Organics can actually compete with international brands. This much I can say so far, the Nature Glow Body Wash was actually something else. I love how the moisture in my skin stays. Why, my Bath & Body Works body wash can’t even do that! I know I said I love organic stuff. But with the scarcity of quality but affordable organic beauty brands, I am left to settle for some brands. I have been using this since I got it and I should say I haven’t been this impressed in a long time. If you know me, I can really get lazy when it comes to applying lotion. Truth be told, whenever I use the Nature Glow body wash, I hardly have a need for one anymore.

The introduction of Beyond Bath to our local market makes for a milestone. Especially so that this particular brand isn’t so scarce like most organic brands I patronize. Beyond Bath Organics products are gently formulated using a combination of the most potent and efficacious plants, herbs, organic ingredients and natural essential oils available in the market. It’s 3 main active ingredients are 1) Sunflower, known for its moisturizing properties (due to its high Vitamin E content) and high amount of anti-oxidants; 2) Inca Inchi seed oil, which effectively blocks oxidation thus help fight signs of aging; it has also been found to be amongst the richest sources of Omega 3 and EFA (essential fatty acids) that is highly beneficial for skin wellness and, lastly 3) Grapefruit, a citrus fruit high in Vitamin C content.

Now, I have yet to try out their hair care line. I have tried a couple of organic brands for hair. One of them is Phytocyane. As opposed to what it was supposed to do, my hair responded in complete disagreement – link to my Phytocyane review. But I am hopeful that as impressed as I am with the performance of the Nature Glow body wash, this won’t be the case with Beyond Bath Organics. Remember Magic Lipsticks?

Magic lipsticks were very popular back in the 80’s. This is the lipstick that’s green but goes pink when applied to the lips. This is so passé that I never thought I was ever going back to wearing one again. Okay, so I was too young to wear lipsticks back in the 80’s. But because of mood/magic lipsticks’ popularity back then, even little girls got to receive these gifts, so what’s a girl to do, right?

For those who are clueless what magic lipsticks are, they are the ones that are also called mood lipsticks. They usually come in cheap-looking, look more like fuse holders packaging. I remember catching them once or twice in the mall when I was in college. But of course, I was too much into my Colorstay sticks to even care.

In all my years of lipstick wearing, I never thought I’d ever go back to using magic lipsticks ever again. I’m currently loving the magic lipstick manufactured by BioEnzymePlus. I am such a sucker for everything natural, so when I felt my lips burn from the stash of lipsticks I got from the Revlon warehouse, I just had to go back to organic. I actually went to the BioEnzymePlus office in Cubao to buy the regular organic lipstick that I ran out of. Alas, it was out of stock, so I tried this one out. Magic or mood lipstick shades are supposed to work with the wearer’s body chemistry. A green magic/mood lipstick isn’t guaranteed to turn pink for all ladies. It depends if one is acidic, often it turns a darker shade of red. They say it depends on the mood. But this I still have to find out. I don’t exactly have particular liking at looking at myself in the mirror when I get angry or upset.

But the thing I love about getting reacquainted with magic lipstick, especially this particular brand, is that I don’t get bothered at all about wearing lipstick and it does not come off as you eat or drink. As kikay as I am, I sometimes want to just have my lips feel nude and not care. The sweet thing about this is, this particular magic lipstick stays there for eternity. Well, not really. But way longer than even those that claims to stay. It’s natural, organic, made from fruit enzymes, I can actually sleep in it and I do! I want to be pretty for hubby while having those enzymes do its job to regenerate cells. Just so you know, BioEnzymePlus did not pay me a cent for this post. I also have no idea how much this retails for. I’m not selling it, although I can, if demand calls for it. I bought this BioEnzyme magic lipstick for the distributor’s price of P395, which is not bad for a good, organic lipstick.

Kikay Corner’s Review of Leyende’s Face Canvas moisture glider & make-up base

It has been more than two months since I started using Leyende’s Face Canvas moisture glider & make-up base. The timing could not have been more perfect. I was about to grab the six times pricier Smashbox but I couldn’t get myself to pay for something that I haven’t tried before for a day’s worth of job. Boy am I glad the cheapskate got the best of me right there. If not, I wouldn’t have known how Leyende’s Face Canvas was created to complement just about any foundation I use. I switch between YSL Matt Touch Foundation to Nutrogena Healthy Skin Enhacer.

I honestly cannot figure out how I managed through my make-up wearing years without Leyende’s Face Canvas moisture glider & make-up base. When I first encountered “primer”, it all sounded too weird for me. I can only associate primer with that mixture you paint all over a wall you want the color changed. Before 2008, I only had three regular make up must haves in my kit (brow pencil, lipstick and face powder). I know I started rather late, foundations were not my constant companion until then.

Clear and Present Shampoo by Leyende

I am completely sold out to this product. I love Leyende! It was four months ago when I started noticing falling hair all over the bath tub, on my brush and all over the floor. The amount of hair I was losing was alarming. I was too young to go bald. And at that rate I was to go bald very soon if it wasn’t for this treasure find.

As a big fan of everything organic, I tried a hair organic soap that claims to stop hair fall and also Ilog Maria’s Honey Propolis shampoo – which I love as well and which is what my son uses. Sad to say they both did not stop my hair from falling. Leyende’s Clear and Present Shampoo alone did it for me. After a few washes, I already noticed lessened hair fall and after a week it was as if my hair fall episode never happened. I wish Neva could read this and know how much I appreciate her genius for having come up with such wonder product.
