This coming Friday, July 15, Ogie and Regine’s Celebrity Ukay Ukay will be launched officially via ebay.ph. Seven interesting finds formerly owned by our very own well known artists will be up for grabs before the week ends. Let me just say that this online shopping are notches ahead of what we usually do when we go splurging through our usual online shopping.

Ogie and Regine’s Celebrity Ukay Ukay‘s sole recipient for its sales is GMA Kapuso Foundation. This particular auction zeroing in on Kapuso School Development Project (KSD). Our local celebrities are giving away their stuff (most of which cost a lot) for this particular project. Now this is something online shoppers might as well swerve to – shopping for a cause. Present during yesterday’s press con was GMA Kapuso Foundation’s Vice President/COO Mel Tiangco, sharing with us the burden of the plight of our country’s underprivileged students.

This will certainly give us a whole new way of looking at shopping. We’re not just guaranteed with authentic and good quality stuff, we’re also helping provide students of underserved public schools all over the country with decent and functional classrooms with water distribution and sanitation facilities and environmental awareness through tree planting around the school building. How’s that for making a difference in the third world where organizations like this (unbeknownst to a whole bunch of people) are actively doing for our fellowmen? It is plain admirable, in my opinion.

Chris Tiu and Henry Perez with the signed jersey that will be available for auction on July 15.

Mr. Henry Perez, GMA Kapuso Foundation’s Executive Director shared with us that since 2003, the Kapuso Development Project has constructed and repaired 250 classrooms in the poorest and remotest communities across the country. Those who were affected by Typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng in 2009 benefited from the 89 classrooms that were built by the KDP last year.

Celebrity Ukay Ukay will be jumpstarted with items donated by Chris Tiu, Dingdong Dantes, Ogie Alcasid, Kris Aquino, John Lapuz and Sharon Cuneta on July 15.

Chris Tiu’s autographed jersey will be up for auction with bid price starting at P499. Chris Tiu wore this when he played in one of the games for GMA network.

Dingdong Dantes’ Party Pilipinas Personalized Denim Jacket’s starting bid will be at P499. This jacket was a gift for Dingdong given to him by his Party Pilipinas family on his birthday. The jacket’s left lapel has a print on it that reads “Dingdong Dantes” with the date “2 August.”

Ogie Alcasid’s Korg Karma Music Workstation in matte maroon will be up for grabs with the starting bid of P4,999. We will definitely try our luck with this one. While we love our M-Audio, the hubby still favors Korg over it. After having heard that Ogie Alcasid has composed quite a few songs with this baby, whoever needs more convincing, right?

Kris Aquino’s Fire Engine Red Bustier Gown starts its bid at P9,999. This willowy, heavily biased in several cuts bottom part of gown measures 19 yards. Worn by Kris for the cover photo for the Kris Aquino’s 2011 birthday issue for her magazine.

John Lapuz’s Andy Warhol Seiko Watch bid starts at P5,999. As ordinary sounding this brand may be to some, this is not your ordinary Seiko watch. It has Marilyn Monroe design on the dial and is based on Andy Warhol’s original works.

Regine Velasquez’s Prada Purse will be up for bids, starting at P5,999. An everyday bag made in Italy of the recently developed fabric for trench coats and bags – Microfiber. How cool is that?

Sharon Cuneta’s Valentino Rosette Sandals will be up for bids, starting at P3,999. This pair was never worn and still comes with a tag. Pink sandals with leather straps by no less than Valentino Garavani. Made in Italy and are embelished with pink and beige fabric rosettes – Valentino’s current summer wear design. Size: 41 or 10.5.

The auction for these items are running for 10 days from July 15 and another batch with the next seven items will be up for grabs on July 25, 2011. The next seven items will be of the following celebrities: Mel Tiangco, Ogie Alcasid, Pia Guanio, Kris Aquino, Tim Yap, Dingdong Dantes and Regine Velasquez.Watch out for these! Share this post too and help get the word out.

Since the plan is for this Celebrity Ukay Ukay via Ebay to go on for a long time for this cause, you might wanna follow @gmakf on Twitter for more updates.

Are you done with your Christmas shopping just yet? You have to agree with me when I say that ladies are the easiest to give presents to. You go to nearby bazaars, which are practically all over the place these days and you get a variety of picks. Whilst presents for men and boys can be on the more challenging side. Why, they would rather receive autographed NFL lockeroom prints and everything about sports that we don’t exactly know much of. But you are basically safe with things that has to do with sports and cars. Especially when they are personalized stuff.
I am one pampered girl! I always love it when September comes because I get all the pampering I could ever have especially when it comes to shopping. My husband is the sweetest in the world and tells me as soon as September comes to go and shop around. Yes, I will start looking through the women’s apparel section. But I always have my limit and I never had the urge to raid department stores anyway. Because I know that as much as I shop, the more things I need to let go of. Just the very principle I teach my son. Walking the talk. Acquiring a new thing means letting go of an old thing. It is the one thing that will balance things out and will keep the tendency to hoard at bay.

Truth be told, shopping is more than just retail therapy. It is a practical necessity that we do on a regular basis to replenish things that we consume. For as long as I can remember, my default shopping place has always been SM. I just find it ever so convenient that they carry so many brands that I need and its being practically a one stop shop.

I was taken a back with emails being forwarded talking about SM’s so-called manipulation of price tags. As per these emails, the tag on the items does not reconcile with the cost that reflects on the cash register.

The complaint originates from a particular shopper, who narrated her experience that the price tag did not match the actual price that reflected on the cash register and she had to pay more. SM has since addressed this issue and is currently in the process of fixing the price gaps. I would like to believe that in all the years that SM has been in the business, that this was not intentional to begin with. In fact, SM has got their lines open for any feedback regarding this matter. As consumers, we should as well be vigilant and our feedbacks, even in this manner would allow establishments to serve their customers better.

As proof, an article via inquirer.net was published testifying that this issue is now settled.

Here’s the URL:

http://lifestyle.inquirer.net/homeandentertaining/homeandentertaining/view/20100901-289818/Credit-card-widening-the-divide-between-haves-and-have-nots

One of the things a kikay struggle with is the urgency to constantly replenish her stash of makeup, accessories, even wardrobes! While indulging can be the easiest way to get this urgency out of of our hairs, truth is, retail therapy can be overrated.

First off, kikay or not, we have got to consider our credit standing and even look into our business credit reports before we go on a swiping spree on our plastic credit cards. Always keep in mind that whatever amount that cash register flashes will be money out your pocket. If not today, the coming months. Debts has the ability to give you more stress than any other stress inducing factor can. And stress is the number one enemy of being beautiful – inside and out.

Shopping is fun. That’s something most girls would agree with me about. But that is not to say that only women love shopping. Men love shopping as well. In this age of consumerism, it really is easy to fall trap if we are not careful. Shopping is not bad in itself. It is the most natural thing, even as we consume things we use on a daily basis. The thing is to be wise at doing it.

Shopping can be rewarding too. You have a job and getting a little something for yourself is not bad at all. It is healthy even. It is wise though to make sure that you go easy on the use of your credit card. If you should at all use it, make sure you get it paid before it is due or what you are purchasing falls under the zero interest promotion. Keeping in mind that the monthly installment cost is something that you can afford to pay for until the very last month of installment.

One thing that wise consumers make use of are Discount Codes and coupons. They are there for you disposal. The fact that companies give these away is because they can actually sell their merchandise at a lesser cost. Shopping wisely will give us more value of our money.

One of the things we women love is home tv shopping, right? I know I do. Although there are a few channels that do not offer quality products, it’s a treasure to be able to spot one that does. I heard that at least one channel from amongst the Direct TV Deals does.

Come to think of it, Direct TV offers are quite affordable. Imagine having more than a hundred and fifty channels for the price of less than thirty dollars. That’s neat, if you ask me. All Direct TV Packages have good tv shopping network channels that provide quality products and that’s the primary thing I’m looking into if ever something with the same deal will be offered locally.

One of the more challenging things that a girl has to do is to get hold of a good brand that carries stylish but comfortable heels and shoes. I personally cannot stand getting blisters around my feet and having to limp after a while of walking. I happen to belong to the bunch who believes that fashion does not have to hurt.

So far, my quest is still on after my Naturalizer pumps gave my poor left middle toe this blister. I tried this Hong Kong brand, Matthews. Its feel to my feet was just right despite its three inch height, until I dragged it for a longer walk. It literally squeaked on me! But I loved the design so much that I chose to keep it. There was no more available pair with the exact design. And why not?! How often does a girl find a pair of squeaky pumps these days, right? In fact, it can be fun. I use them when I need some perking up of sorts.

Now that squeaky pair isn’t exactly my kind of everyday shoes. My search led me to www.AyosDito.ph. After having met the team back in the iBlog5 summit, I found out that this marketplace is one reliable company. I browsed through the new items in their web page and loved the eye candy women’s shoes from flats to heels. I have one favorite pair of Aerosoles flats in leopard print but when I saw this Fascinate flats in my exact size, I knew I have got to add this to my line of everyday shoes. It is only less than a thousand bucks. I read from a review that Fascinate shoes are really comfy and that’s enough for me. For one, I haven’t seen this kind of design in our local shoe stores. The pretty pair was used once and it sure looks as good as new. I am soon to contact the seller and am keeping my fingers crossed that it ain’t sold yet.
