To Obagi Elastilash Eyelash Solution or Not

  • Posted on December 29, 2011 at 3:59 pm

It was not until my eyes got really irritated by the medical grade glue used during (even weeks after) my eyelash extension procedure a couple of years back that I figured I have extra sensitive eyes. It was later affirmed when I tried using Enormous Lash which I bought from Flawless. After a few weeks of using, I had to go see an eye doctor and I was given prescription multi coated glasses aside from the artificial tear drops because my eyes have become extremely dry. There was no way I can last more than 10 minutes in front of the computer that time.

Once Upon a Mattress

I might be a little strange, but I actually love having relatives and friends stay over night. I’m just a natural hostess who enjoys cooking for people and taking care of them. The only problem is that my place is a little bit small and we don’t have regular beds for anyone but the kids and my husband and I. Worse, our couch is nice and comfy but for it’s a little bit lumpy for sleeping and not at all right for grandma and the older aunts, uncles, and cousins who come over.

Boardwalk Supports Pasig River Run

  • Posted on December 1, 2011 at 8:15 pm

Boardwalk does its share for a beautiful world by supporting the Pasig River Run held last November 20, 2011. A field of 87,000-strong assembled at the Mall of Asia to support what became the biggest advocacy run ever, A Run for the Pasig River.

With the leadership of the ABS-CBN Foundation, the event promoted a safe and clean Pasig River and aims to bring back its former glory. The goal of this public-spirited undertaking is to raise funds, and to create awareness about what needs to be done until the river is clean. Here are some photos from the event.

Spotted: Job Gayta. The live mannequin we dressed during Boardwalk’s Eat.Play.Blog event.

More than a fashion/clothing company, Boardwalk presses on as it goes beyond this run and continue helping ABS-CBN Foundation in its quest to revitalize the Pasig River.  Wouldn’t it be fad if other brands follow suit?

As consumers who actually need to shop especially this gift giving season, I’d say it is always best to patronize those who are into this kinds of advocacy. It does not just make shopping guilt free but we are actually, in essence supporting the cause of the brand. Sure, there are a handful of choices out there.

TOMS’ Advocacy: One for One

  • Posted on November 22, 2011 at 1:23 pm

With every pair you purchase, TOMS will give  pair of new shoes to a child in need.  One for One.  —-> www.TOMS.com

I am beyond impressed. While I know that a lot of brands are tapping into different advocacies, this One for One is something else entirely. Most brands will just give a minute amount of their sales. But TOMS is at it One for One. That’s more than just zero guilt when buying their product. I love, love, love it! I haven’t bought a pair of TOMS yet. But this is definitely giving me the go signal. Especially after seeing the wedges in TOMS Holiday Collection.

TOMS has given away 1,000,000 pairs of shoes as of September 2011! This is with the help of TOMS NGO partners which are quite a few. This is understandable for the company to sustain their advocacy.

Above are TOMS NGO Partners in the Philippines. It is lovely to see familiar Christian organizations in the list like GCF and YWAM. :-)

As I was downloading videos from youtube, here is what I saw –> a sneak peek on how TOMS go about their task.

Boardwalk’s Eat.Play.Blog. Bloggers’ Forum

  • Posted on November 15, 2011 at 1:07 pm

Although I have heard about the Boardwalk brand some years ago, it was only last week that I had the privilege to have a closer look at what it is beyond what I formerly thought of as just some random MLM clothing company business. Sure, I did have an inkling that it has made quite a name for itself since it was launched given that they have big time endorsers that I now see on highway billboards – Kris Aquino, Derek Ramsey, to name a few. But being pro-active in doing their share in preserving the environment as they do their thing is something else altogether.

Boardwalk Business Ventures, Inc. supports 11.20.2011 A Run For The Pasig River. This is spearheaded by the ABS-CBN Foundation, an event that promotes a safe and clean Pasig River and aims to bring back its former glory. You might want to register for the upcoming event – Run for the Pasig River.

Last week, held at Ming’s Restaurant in Ortigas was Boardwalk’s First Blogger’s Forum and Kikay Corner was one of the few bloggers who were invited. Aside from learning about Boardwalk’s advocacy run for Pasig River, they also discussed how the business works and the fun of being a personal shopper.

Another Nivea Giveaway

  • Posted on November 11, 2011 at 12:15 pm

Here is another Nivea Giveaway from Kikay Corner. I have been far too busy which just about explains the delay of this blog’s raffle giveaways. But whenever I see this boxful of products in front of my dresser, I know that I have got to do this one time or another before they pile up into a massive mess. For one, I can make use of the room for the Christmas gifts I need wrapped.

The box full of Nivea products above is still intact as of writing. Three (3) of Kikay Corner’s readers will be receiving one of each Nivea product from this box. As for the rest, I’m keeping them for my personal supply. I love Nivea Express Hydration lotion so much that I think I’ll stick with it until something better comes along. :-)

Here’s what three of our blog readers will receive:  Nivea Pure & Natural Deodorant, Nivea Pure & Natural Wipes and Nivea Express Hydration Lotion

My Coppola Keratin Smoothing Treatment Experience at Henri Calayag

  • Posted on November 4, 2011 at 10:19 pm

It was more than a month ago when I decided to have my hair undergo Keratin Smoothing Treatment or what is more commonly called nowadays as Brazilian or Express Blow Out or Permanent Blow Dry at Henri Calayag Salon.

Before the treatment

As what I would usually do with my previous reviews, I had to sit this Keratin Smoothing Treatment out for a month at least just so I know I will be providing an accurate review. This was a birthday treat for my brittle and unmanageable hair.

My visit to Henri Calayag prior to this, I was told several times over by Richard (Junior Creative Director-above photo) how dead my hair was and there is no way on earth it can survive another rebonding treatment and not fall off on me. Digital Perming is also out of the question. No more harmful chemicals from there on out. All I really needed was sort of revive my hair back to “normal” and I was willing to try anything.  I have had badly damaged hair for as long as I can remember and brushing has been a chore if not for the anti-frizz serums that I used.

The Permanent Blow Dry/Brazilian Blow Out/Express Blow Out procedure was way simpler than that of rebonding.

1. My hair was shampooed with Coppola Keratin Complex Smoothing Therapy Clarifying Shampoo twice.

2. Hair was blown dry 100%.

3. Coppola Hair Treatment Solution was applied all over my hair.

Freeway x Manansala NACS Holiday 2011 Launch

  • Posted on October 22, 2011 at 4:23 pm

When Freeway launched Freeway Loves Art: National Artist Collectors’ Series in 2009, it did not just make a fashion statement.  It also was an avenue for the younger generation to get to know some of our country’s celebrated national artists that we all are to be proud of.

Freeway has by far featured National Artists Nick Joaquin (Literature), Ang KiuKok (Visual Arts), Jose Garcia Villa (Literature), Ramon Valera (Fashion Design) and the first living NA in the series, F. Sionil Jose (Literature).

I came in a wee bit early, so I was able to have a look see on Freeway’s Manansala Collection. I got my eyes on a few pieces and decided right on that I’d have to take home at least a couple. This is by far, my favorite of all the NACS features.
