This kikay’s current take on today’s Smartphones (Currently partial towards MyPhone A898)

Because I finally gave up on Blackberry and will soon have my postpaid BB plan with Sun Cellular terminated (finally done with my lock-in period. Yay!), I shopped around for the perfect phone for my need. I have been deliberating on getting the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 because of my need to have a wider screen for the eBooks on queue that are currently in my iBooks library. Between the Blackberry and the iPhone, it is the former that I was willing to give up. But again, because getting a Galaxy Note 2 would also mean that I would still have to lug with an extra phone for my other sim. If the Note 2 came with dual sim feature, then it was the perfect gadget for the multi-sim trotting me. That is, until MyPhone A878 happened. This dual-core Android phone is something else. You will read about my quick review of A878, unboxing, photos and camera shots over the hubby’s gadget blog where I blogged about –> MyPhone A878 Quick Review | Unboxing | Specs | Features ๐Ÿ™‚

So long, Blackberry! (wiping my data clean)

My love affair with Blackberry started last year with the Blackberry Torch. Until I had issues with its handling and how it will always slip off my digits, so I switched to Bold 9900. Then, I got tired of 9900’s ultra fast draining battery life — switched to Curve 9300. Some weeks ago, I decided I have had it. The novelty of BBM for me has worn off and I don’t do BBMs for the longest time anyway. Yes, making my postpaid BB plan a total waste. That’s what you get when you go with the bandwagon. Lesson learned.

The ultra sleek MyPhone A878 that got mistaken for the pricier Android phone a handful of times.

My iPhone4 is not exactly the most flexible when it comes to switching sims (among other things), the pick should be one that does not require a micro-sim, preferably dual-sim too.

You will be surprised that the people who mistook it for an S3, a couple of them actually are from the tiangge where mobiles phones abound. You’d expect that people there are more acquainted with the latest of phones. Anyhoo, I got hold of my pretty new toy a.k.a. MyPhone 878 last Monday and without my knowing that two short days after, I will be able to not just have first dibs but actually upgrade to the soon to be launched MyPhone A898.

Me donned in my favorite Freeway Manansala, Fino handbag and my spanking MyPhone A898 (units are set to be launched next week). MyPhone earned my respect since I bought the A618 TV Duo last August, I knew I just had to check out their other Android phones out while I was contemplating on what mobile to replace my then just disposed Blackberry. Speaking of the A618 TV phone, it’s the one phone the hubby can’t live without when Azkals has a game and we’re in transit. Saved me from having to check on Dian Castillejo’s twitter updates on my mobile and read it to him while he drives. Haha! That’s how we roll when we’re out and the Azkals are having a soccer match. ย ๐Ÿ™‚

With my brand new impression of quality for MyPhone’s newer phones which started off with our purchase of MyPhone A618 TV Duo Android phone, it was a good call that we checked out one of those MyPhone stalls in Sta. Lucia Mall after getting rid of my Blackberry Curve 9300 at a tiangge for cheap. Truth be told, this MyPhone A898, with specification rocking as it is, I can hardly call it ย a back up phone to my already semi-abandoned iPhone4.

ย Because I can’t help it, I will be posting more photos and even videos of the movie capability of MyPhone A898 in a later post. I am happy to report that there is no hint of lagging throughout my usage of this MyPhone A898 unit. Now there is so much more to love about MyPhone mobile units than its being a patriotic brand. There is now this sense of pride about my lugging around with my MyPhone.ย

We don’t need to be all geeky to need good quality smartphones like MyPhone A878 and A898. Because if there’s a bunch who can make use of great quality smartphones with spanking camera capability, that will be us, representing the kikay pinay bunch and mommies out there who make sure no milestone is missed with the ongoings of our daily grind. ๐Ÿ™‚

Meanwhile, MyPhone A898 will be out in the market next week and you will be delightfully surprised of the price it is going to retail for. MyPhone A898 will retail for give or take P7,500.ย

Wow, that’s unbelievable cheap for a phone like that. Sometimes, I still miss the good old Nokia 3210 days…

  2. one thing is for sure, you do have many cellphones. I wanted to buy one but it’s not on my wishlists this year.

  3. Ane says:

Wow, what a steal! ๐Ÿ˜› I wish the iPhone would eventually have a dual sim option! ๐Ÿ˜› Your post is truly enticing me to buy a MyPhone, switching sims on my iPhone like you said, is not easy, I hate that I have to remove my earrings to switch sims, because I’ve lost the pin a looong time ago. ๐Ÿ˜› However, I have bought all these apps and stuff on iTunes and if I switch to an android phone it’ll all go to waste, sayang naman. ๐Ÿ˜›

    You ladies look great! ๐Ÿ™‚

  9. The price is not bad for everything you’re getting from your new cell phone. I haven’t tried MyPhone yet, by the way, but I’ll include it in my list of options once I’m ready to change my cell phone.

  10. Mauie says:

  14. Darrell Tomarong says:

Hi! Just want to ask if may casing naba na release ang myphone for A878 & A898? nag ask lang po. Salamat.

  15. admin says:

Hello Darrel! I actually bought my case from the same store I bought the A878 from. Apparently, some MyPhone stores already carry accessories for their newer models. ๐Ÿ™‚

I particularly got hold of mine from a MyPhone store in Sta. Lucia mall. The store is located within the crowd of mobile stores bridging the old mall and the grand mall. The SA’s name is Elaine. I took note of that because she was really nice. ๐Ÿ™‚

  16. Matthew says:

Video call po sa skype pde sa myphone A898?

  19. P7,500.00 for a good quality phone? Some say it’s like an S3. Hope you’ll allow me to browse your new phone when I see you again to check on the features. =)

  26. dhariel says:

    mag kano nmn po yan?

  27. cm_chubz says:

mukhang i’m considering this (together w/ sony xperia mini pro, nokia c6 ,nokia c3-01, nokia lumia) as a contender to replace my circa 2008 xpress music phone.
ang mom ko user ng qwerty na myphone and ilang beses na nabagsak at may crack na yung side pero hindi pa den nagkakaproblem and 2 yrs na yun. ayos naman ba admin touchscreen nya and how bout web browsing esp. youtube?

  28. admin says:

Hello k! I bought at least a couple of Cherry Mobile units in the past (back up phones) and all of them did not last a couple of months with me. Not satisfied at all. You also need to check out and compare the TV feature. While Cherry Mobile’s reception will suck, MyPhone will always be eons better. Just saying. Unless Cherry Mobile actually makes better phones, they will never be at par with MyPhone no matter how more affordable their units are.

  29. Ralfie says:

Great review! I’m thinking about buying one but when I saw your WHITE unit here I am really going to buy one! I just have one concern: battery life. How does it compare with the iPhone?

  30. admin says:

    Hello Ralfie!

Honestly, ever since I got my iPhone4 updated to its latest version, the battery started draining on me faster. My A898’s battery life performs so much better and lasts me the whole day even with the 3G or WiFi on. More than a month since I had it, the novelty has not worn off. My iPhone4 remains abandoned for the most part. ๐Ÿ™‚

  31. valsj says:

I got mine too and im very satisfied with it. I replace my huawei y200 with this due to its dual sim capability. I choose between lenovo p700i and its contender Starmobile astra, chery mobile titan. The pic quality is great better than the two local brands and led flash is much convincing as comp to l p700i.

  32. Mj says:

Hi, I would just like to ask if you have tried/tested both 3G calls and Skype Video calls?:) Please let me know. Thank you!

  33. Yel says:

Hello! =)) Tanong ko lang po kung may antenna pang nilalabas yung a618 for mobile tv? Thank you po

  34. marivic says:

    Hi,
tanong ko lng po rating ng battery,ok po b?.ano po ba average hours?.

  35. marivic says:

    Hi,

  36. hi po… ala pa po bang less than 4k pero hindi baba sa 3.500 na a878 or a898?? salamat po
