After quite a while of blogging events hiatus, I finally got to attend that of a brand I have been curious about – Virginia Olsen Minerals. Apparently, I was one of the few who will get first dibs of their yet to arrive Summer Collection 2013 colors!
Yes, first off, a selfie. My no makeup look. An easy excuse for not having so much time to glam up. Just way too busy with moving houses and getting settled. Explains that tired look. 🙂
Since I was way too busy to get a decent OOTD shot, here are a couple I found in the images for that day. Just before I parked the car to ride the train. Yes, I am very carbon footprint conscious (aside from not wanting to trouble myself with the crazy Greenhills parking). 🙂
Because I was commuting half the time, I opted for flats. The most comfy I’ve tried to date. 🙂
Unlike other brands claiming to be mineral makeup, Virginia Olsen takes pride on being 100% pure mineral makeup. Definitely free of paraben, bismuth and talc. My first taste of Virginia Olsen was from my December Saladbox. I admit, I was not too keen on testing the Sophia Eyelash Enhancer by Virginia Olsen. After having had to suffer some side effects from using Enormous Lash in 2010, I have kind of gotten traumatized. But after hearing all those girls rave about how good it is (and saw for myself those thick and long lashes), I finally gave it a go that very same day. A week since and my eyes are doing okay still. No irritations whatsoever. The all natural botanical ingredients must have been the trick. I know, I digress. But I will totally blog about my Sophia Eyelash Enhancer experience soon. 🙂
Back to makeup heaven a.k.a. Virginia Olsen Minerals Manila headquarters, as I previewed Virginia Olsen Minerals’ yet to be available Summer Collection 2013, I cannot help but notice an affirmation of my first impression of the brand – the pigmentation of each color is impressive! I swear, if I did not have to spend an arm and leg recently for the expenses of building our new home, I would have hoarded them all. I am totally in love with the brand! I love that they are so affordable too.
Swatches of four of Virginia Olsen Minerals Summer Collection 2013
The swatches alone should tell you how pigmented those mineral make up are. It’s effortless! VO is adding 10 more exciting eye catching shades through its Summer Collection 2013. Here’s a preview of all ten! 😀
The 6 new matte-nificent shades are: Puppy Love, Pumpkin, Forest, Spring, Prom Night, and Ibiza. The rest are the 4 lovely shimmers: Midnight Glam, Lilac Lust, Sparkling Jade, and Sphinx. So affordable at only P150 each (approx. $3.50)! Whoever said mineral makeup has to be expensive? What’s really sweeter is because it’s pure mineral makeup, there’s practically no expiry dates! Lovely! Another reason for me to totally switch to mineral makeup. I find it such a waste throwing makeup that are not even half empty.
While I was at it, I helped myself with the rest of Virginia Olsen Minerals’ collection!
Here are four of my favorites!
Gold Bars, Chartreuse, Festival and Solar Flare! I super swear on Virginia Olsen Minerals being ultra pigmented! I only dipped a little on my finger and every single time, the color went a long way. Talk about high density mineral make up. Each pot is finely milled and perfect for application. Be warned that you only need to dip your makeup brush a little to avoid wastage.
Virginia Olsen’s Minerals are virtually weightless and yes they are long wearing, I’ve tried and emptied the Romance blush that came with my Saladbox and I am very satisfied. Lasted me the whole day. It claims to be water resistant too. I will have to get that claim tested. It also provides naturally high UVA and UVB protection. As to the grade of SPF, I have yet to ask. No wonder VO is widely recommended by dermatologists and cosmetologists alike especially for those who have sensitive skin. It is even safe to use for those who have had micro dermabrasion, laser or other beauty treatments. 🙂
Virginia Olsen Minerals inclues these brushes as part of their very affordable product-line. I love that Virginia Olsen is eco-friendly and producing sustainable cosmetics that are of the highest quality. I’m totally loving my Charm makeup brushes but guess what brand I’m going to try next? 🙂
Moi with the rest of the other beauty bloggers (most of them are makeup artists too — sweet!), with Jirbie and Hazel of Virginia Olsen Minerals. Thank you ladies for having us. After all this busyness of settling in our home (I’m finally halfway done), I am so going to play with the Virginia Olsen Minerals shades I came home with. 🙂
Their palettes look really inviting! Love the colors! 🙂 Will check this one out! 🙂
Wow, they’re really pigmented… how much does a jar of eyeshadow cost?
Solar Flare is one crazy shade! I love it! 🙂
