Wedding preparations can be fun but they can also be pretty stressful, especially when you want to look your best. As a bride, you will find yourself prepping your skin and hair so you will look confidently beautiful on your special day. So how do you plan on doing all these things? While it may sound like an easy task to just go to a salon and have your hair styled, but it can actually do more damage to it. You have to understand that you don’t heat damage your hair in these important times. You also definitely don’t want to have so many chemicals in your hair when your wedding day is nearing. You’ll want something simple and effective to fix your hair. (more…)
Holidays are usually the time of the year when we hustle and bustle the most. I recently snuck out of my grind for a bit, right in time for our renewal of vows wedding, to get some hair treatment done at Salon Privat by Jing Monis as the celebrated hair artist extraordinaire concludes #HolidaysWithThePress2016.
A “before shot” was in order – easy to see that my locks have gone lifeless. (more…)
My Yuko Hair Straightening Makeover by Lifestyle Salon by Louis Phillip Kee + Cynos Inside Hair Care
After having experienced the benefits of Japanese rebonding/straightening system that does not kill the locks, I have no plans of going back to having my hair rebonded or straightened the traditional way in a neighborhood salon like I used to. More than a week since my Yuko Hair Straightening Treatment at the Lifestyle Salon by Louis Phillip Kee, I’m totally loving how my hair isn’t stick straight like I’m sure it would look if it was done the rebonding way, like we know it.
While some may say that they’re pretty much okay with waves, my waves happen to be the wayward kind. I’ll have to style it for hours if I want it to look half presentable when they’re let down. (more…)
It was early last month when I first got pumped to go crazy with my hair again. My locks have been on treatment hiatus for almost 3 years and having my hair Japanese rebonded by the celebrated hair and make-up artist, Akira of Akira Hair & Make-Up Salon is the best way to “break my fast.” Finally, a hair treatment post after almost 3 years! 🙂
After almost 3yrs of shying away from any hair treatment (color, perm, rebond, brazilian, keratin), I got my #locks #japaneserebonded by no less than Akira himself of #AkiraSalon. Love how my rather unruly hair came to life minus the usual dizzying fumes of #hairtreatments in only 2hrs! Akira used authentic Japanese products that are ever so mild, he used his bare hands to apply on my hair. And did I mention that the #macadamiatreatment smelled heavenly? The difference of my #hairtexture is undeniable. Just the kind of break my hair needs from years of treatment hiatus. 💇 Soon on the blog! 😍 #japaneserebond #authenticjapaneserebonding #beautyblogger #salonreview
Akira Hair & Make-Up Salon is located at the G/F of Regina Hometel, 7272 J. Victor S., Makati City.
The salon is near LIttle Tokyo and a kilometer away from Greenbelt Mall. The salon is soon to franchise in different places within the metro as Akira makes sure his hair and make-up artists will all be well-trained to keep the quality of his beauty services as he trains them himself in the school he’s putting up south of the metro.
Akira has been featured in various lifestyle magazines, including Preview. (more…)
When it comes to hair, I’ve always been the adventurous type – only because I know that whether I chop it all off, or go crazy, maybe get some kinky curls or have a boy cut, it’s just hair and will grow back anyway. That used to be my “true story” since I learned to style, layer my own hair (when I was in high school). “Used to be,” because it’s been more than 2 years (I believe) since I last colored or subjected my main to some crazy hair treatment (blowout, rebond and whathaveyous). I’m still currently in this, what I feel like calling “hair-hibernation phase.”
I’ve seen for myself how all the years and years of hair treatment/color took their toll on my poor locks. I’ve kind of gone rebellious and jettison everything I’ve ever gotten used to when it comes to hair. And I actually kind of feel like patting myself on the back, for making it this far. You see, I’ve tried in the past but failed.
Now that I think about it, I only felt the urgency to totally turn away from what my hair got used to is because of the ugly after effects of hair coloring and whathaveyou treatments. This was further reinforced in me when Beauty Experts Agoo Bengzon, Peewee Reyes-Isidro, RissaMananquil-Trillo, Cara Favila and Raymond Santiago each discussed the relevance of Cream Silk Daily Treatment Conditioner and how it is superior to other brands. After almost a year since I first tried Wen Cleansing Conditioner and I’m still so into it. Allow me to again enumerate why I love Wen. The 5-in-1 formula includes:
- Deep Conditioner
- Leave-in Conditioner
When we rid our hair off the residue of the commercial shampoo, and pamper it with these awesome and natural ingredients, that is, WEN® Cleansing Conditioner, our hair will get more beautifully awesome. 🙂
I love that once in a while I still get those eureka moments when it comes to beauty products. With all the innovation we have witnessed by far, I would tend to just nod with the usual superlative claims of brand new products. Yes, I would be impressed but not the “eureka” impressed kind. If you know what I mean. 😉
When P&G sent this Pantene 3 Minute Miracle Conditioner last week, I wasn’t really expecting much. I thought it was just another hyper conditioning agent being launched. But then again, it literally only took me one use and I was convinced. It is so good that I instantly concluded that it was comparable to the high end Kerastase Nutritive Oleo-Relax trio shampoo, conditioner and anti-frizz spray that I use, only this comes in a more affordable, one-step-does-it-all conditioning. I love everything one step! It didn’t matter what shampoo I used with it, it right away achieved the hair that I’ve always wanted.
While I’m not exactly shooting to achieve a Bea Alonzo Pantene 3 Minute Miracle Conditioner magazine-perfect look, I did manage to let my hair down (and actually liked it) – something I haven’t done in ages! (more…)

It was two years back when I first discovered my hair’s best friend, Kerastase Elixir Ultime. That has remained true to this day. My impression of this wonder product has definitely gone beyond sheer excitement.
Incidentally, this miracle of a hair treatment a.k.a. Kerastase Elixir Ultime is available for free for the month of September in celebration of Kerastase Paris’ 50th anniversary celebration. This is made available to salon clients who will avail of P4,000 worth of Kerastase Paris products and services. The gift box also comes with a special black paddle comb bearing. (more…)
As I have previously announced last April, Wen Cleansing Conditioner is officially out in the market. Yay! Gotta love SLS/SLES-Free Shampoos, or for this matter, Cleansing Conditioner, which is essentially similar to what we got used to calling Shampoo and Conditioner in one. But then again, Wen is a league entirely different since this is the kick-ass type, with its 5-in-1 formula that includes:
- Deep Conditioner
- Leave-in Conditioner
Our Wen Cleansing Conditioner just claimed its rightful spot on our tub. 🙂
Wen Cleansing Conditioner Pomegranate right off the box
It is a good thing that ever since I started making my own Castile Soap and Shampoo, I have kinda sorta psyched my family to not fall dependent on the fallacy that lather translates to cleansing. Truth be told, lather almost always equals to harsh ingredients. I kid you not! The stripping of our hairs natural oils is what our usual commercial shampoos do. Wen Cleansing Conditioner does not merely do deep conditioning and all the nice things to your hair, it also keeps the hair color intact. (more…)
