Discovering Avon’s Skin So Soft Glutathione Whitening Renewal Hand and Body Lotion

Sure, we have heard a handful bunch coming up with everything Glutathione – from food supplement, to soap to lotion. My latest discovery of which is Avon’s Skin So Soft Glutathione Whitening Renewal Hand and Body Lotion via the March Saladbox! I love how Saladbox has constantly introduced me to new and promising beauty products.

Saladbox March

Two other products that came with my March Saladbox that I am totally digging, aside from this SSS Glutathione Lotion, are those testers of Snail Nutrition BB Cream and Island Girls BB Primer Fix. The former having this cool effect on the skin that’s so refreshing especially in this unbelievably humid summer weather. But that’s another blog post altogether. 🙂

Skin So Soft Glutathione Lotion
I have been using Avon’s Skin So Soft Glutathione Whitening Renewal Hand and Body Lotion for a good full week now. Does it deliver as what Georgina Wison, its brand ambassador, said it will? I really cannot say just yet, since I, for the most part, am under the sun because of all the not-so-girly tasks I have been up to lately – (more…)

Do Away with Premature Wrinkling, Hair Breakage with Lady Satin Pillowcases

As much as I have loved my 300 thread count cotton linens, those sleep lines against my face in the morning (and sometimes afternoon naps) cannot be denied. They don’t just give me away that I dozed off. Apparently, they have long haul effects – like premature wrinkling of the face and hair breakage. Explaining all those stray hair strands all over my pillows.

Lady Satin pillowcases
In all honestly, I found it rather odd when Lady Satin approached me and asked if I can review her product. It did not occur to me until lately that satin linens actually have hair and skin benefits. Of course, I can’t just take her word for it. I had to try and look it up for myself. I was actually meaning to use these satin pillowcases when we get settled in our newly renovated home. But we’re not moving until a couple of weeks. Did I already mention before about my not so very high EQ? The soft feel of the cases was just too inviting to ignore. Well, that’s another challenge I lost recently. Thus, this post. 🙂

lady satin pillow caseI threw them lazily right from when I pulled them out of the box and the satin soft texture can’t be denied. And yes! You read my mind right. I couldn’t wait to hurry to the bath and get to bed! — I wouldn’t want to get all my sweaty face (thanks to our 36ish very humid temperature) on my spanking satin soft pillowcases. Teehee! (more…)

Cetaphil Daily Facial Moisturizer SPF15

If there is one skin care regimen product I have stuck with through the years, it is Cetaphil. When I gave birth to my son almost 8 years ago, it was also only Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser I trusted. I was too afraid to use on his face anything that will sting his delicate eyes. We still use it to this day. Here’s another reason to love Cetaphil Daily Facial Moisturizer SPF15.

Cetaphil Daily Facial MoisturizerMost facial moisturizing sunblock available in the market are just too greasy for my taste. I would try some for a while but never really went over a few days because of the nasty grease factor that almost always go with sunblock products. And with the unforgiving tropical humidity of Manila, it will be crazy to stick with anything slithery textured layer on my skin, face, at that. No on earth way.

Cetaphil® Daily Facial Moisturizer with sunscreen broad spectrum SPF 15 is specially formulated to be effective, light and silky-smooth—ideal for facial use. (more…)

Your Turn to Take On Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Challenge!

It has been one full week since the first night I dropped my usual beauty regimen for Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate and Midnight Recovery Eye Cream. I am happy to report that my skin is totally loving it! I felt the difference upon waking up the next morning I first used it. I’m not sure I can remember my skin feeling more supple. I was tempted to use it through the day too! Teehee! I concur that it should be the elixir doing its job as it replenishes my skin’s lost moisture. I guess it would not be an award winning beauty product for nothing.

Kiehl's MRC

I admit of my apprehension when I first found out that it was oil based. The last time I experimented with moroccan oil (which, by the name itself, is oil-based), my face broke out with milia everywhere on the third day! Nothing like that happened with Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate! It is so easily absorbed by the skin and no sign of grease at all! And I haven’t even started how heavenly it smells! Its lavender oil component is just the perfect ingredient to usher us right to dreamland. Sleep, being an essential part of this Midnight Recovery Challenge. If we are going to take this challenge seriously, we might as well do it right.

Here’s what’s sweeter, Kiehl’s Manila opens this Midnight Recovery Challenge to its avid users!

Midnight Recovery Challenge Contest Mechanics:

1. Followers of the challenge are to make their own creative poster of their improved sleeping habits and their new commitments to a fresher skin.

Kikay Corner’s Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Diaries Challenge

Kiehl's Midnight Discovery Diaries ChallengeWhen Kiehl’s Manila asked Kikay Corner to be part of 2013 Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Diaries Challenge, I first had to check what the products are made of before I agreed to give it a go. As I am already leaning towards natural ones, I was very pleased to know that this powerful concentrate is 99% naturally-derived and paraben-free.

Kiehl's Midnight Recovery

Midnight Recovery Concentrate and the Midnight Recovery Eye are made of potent concentrations of botanical extracts specifically formulated to biologically replicate skin’s natural lipids for optimal skin repair throughout the night.

paraben free, fragrance free, mineral oil freeAfter learning about mineral and other petroleum by products being responsible of speeding up the skin’s aging process, I have avoided it since at all cost. Mineral oil is said to block pores, making the skin keep in the toxins that cause premature aging of the skin. So dear readers, if you love your skin any, check out the skin products sitting on your dresser and toss the ones with paraben and mineral oil straight to the bin! 🙂

My first Kiehl’s product was Kiehl’s Facial Fuel No-Shine Moisturizing Lip Balm and I love it to this day. Recently, I also got to try Kiehl’s AçaĂ Damage-Correcting Moisturizer from Sample Room. The latter’s being organic antioxidant is what drew me to it to begin with. Now, can I just say that I am one thrilled gal that I get to take on this Midnight Recovery Diaries Challenge? I’m 36. While people would say that I don’t look my age, whether they mean that or not, I do appreciate these things that are now commercially available to set back my skin’s aging process.

Swtiched to Contractubex: A scar story of a self-confessed Klutz

As they say, the first step to recovery is admission. But for some reason, no matter how much I admit being a klutz, I still don’t get recovered from it. I’m a certified klutz, there’s no use denying it. I guess it goes hand in hand with my being an action person. Because I tend to follow through what I think, I oftentimes get ahead of myself and there goes the accidents I most often have to deal with.

Take this above wound for example. Second quarter of last year, I tripped and hit my shin right inside our backyard. What are the odds! I tried this Dermatix gel for a whole month. It was working for a while, like it was lightening the scar a little. But it practically stopped its job of erasing and went back to becoming darker to my horrors! I gave it another month just to have that chance that it “might” work still. But nothing. Ugh! I know I had to do a follow up review on that. Since there are already readers asking how my scar looked like now.

The thing is I switched to Contractubex (I finally heeded to my sister’s recommendation) even before I emptied the Dermatix tube. Apparently, my sister has been using Contractubex for years! Plus it was around three hundred bucks cheaper! Meaning, it’s good for my wallet. 🙂 I actually had my doubts since it was cheaper. You know how we consumers tend to equate expensive to effective. It is not always the case, at least for this particular product.

Dermatix, I used from July until September last year. If you will check out my Dermatix post, the scar did not improve from that last photo. Then I switched to Contractubex from then until present. Above is the photo of my present scar. I didn’t use flash when I took this photo to be as precise as possible. The only thing I don’t like about Contractubex is its aluminum tube. Dermatix has an easy squeeze tube. But then again, if that was what made it expensive yet not as effective, I’ll choose Contractubex all over again for my future other scars. I since swear by Contractubex. Imagine if I used Contractubex from the day my wound dried up, I’m sure my shin would hardly have a trace of boo-boo by now. Oh well, that’s one lesson learned by this self-confessed klutz.

Contractubex, P534 for 10g gel and P943 for 20g gel

Contractubex has three complementary active ingredients: (1) Extractum cepae, which is essentially a special onion extract. It has anti-inflammatory, bactericidal properties and prevents the formation of excessive scar tissue. (2) Heparin, softens the tissue structure, has anti-inflammatory, anti-swelling properties and prevents the formation of excessive scar tissue. And (3) Allantoin, which promotes wound healing, hydrates the skin and has a soothing effect which helps relieve the itching often associated with scar formation.

BeauBelle Eye Lift Cream

It was a few years back when I first encountered BeauBelle beauty products. BeauBelle was introduced to me through Blue Water Day Spa and the Blogapalooza event I attended last year. It was only recently though that I thought I’d give it a shot. I am not a big fan of eye creams. I tried a few brands in the last few years but figured my eyes were too sensitive to any cream even if it was organic based or the hypo-allergenic type. The most I’d go with it was 4 days.

From the time that I was little, I have observed one thing that has not changed since – my puffy eyes. I’m not too sure even if this is the kind of eye cream that I should use. But since I’ve tried a bunch of other brands in the past, from Christian Dior to Olay to Origins and a few others, I thought I won’t know until I try.

BeauBelle is a skin care line from Switzerland. This particular BeauBelle Eye Lift Cream claims to be designed to correct aging around the eyes. The wide-spectrum peptides fill-up fine lines and wrinkles to smoothen skin. It also has micronized diamond powder that smoothens and improves the overall appearance of skin.  The squalene, meadowfoam seed oil and shea butter ingredients bring hydration and suppleness to the eye area.

As expected, I haven’t been too religious in applying this eye cream since I started. But I do apply when I remember. Surprisingly, unlike the other eye creams I have used in the past, my skin does not have a single aversion to it. No irritated feeling around the eyes like what I’d usually have.

Dr. Bronner’s Magic Pure Castile Liquid Soaps

One of the many precious finds I have from Healthy Options is this –Dr. Bronner’s Magic Pure Castile Liquid Soap. My favorite being, Lavender. Too bad the biggest they have it is in this size. At least from the Healthy Options branches I have visited so far. The bigger the bottle, the more savings I get. I honestly have not found a soap, whether solid or liquid that is better than Dr. Bronner’s Magic soaps. It’s just that, they don’t really come very cheap.

Dr. Bronner’s Magic Pure Castile Liquid Soap in 240ml retails for P495. That’s the price I last got it for, at least. I noticed the last time I bought my Apple Cider Vinegar supply from Healthy Options at The Fort, they hiked a lot of the prices up. Not sure if the hike applies to all products they sell.

Dr. Bronner’s Magic Pure Castile in Peppermint 946ml P1,125

Here is what I love most about Dr. Bronner’s soaps – all natural ingredients!  A combination of organic extra virgin coconut, olive, jojoba and hemp oils, together with pure essential oils, creates a unique soap that cleans effectively without being aggressive and produces a velvety-lather that leaves the skin silky-smooth and refreshed. Unlike most “organic products” that are sold locally, Dr. Bronner’s soaps are completely biodegradable and vegetable-based.

Made with Certified Fair Trade and Organic Oils
Multi-Purpose: 18-in-1 Uses
No Synthetic Foaming Agents, Thickeners or Preservatives

Dr. Bronner’s Magic Soap’s Peppermint Fragrance is the most popular fragrance of Dr. Bronner’s soap line. The peppermint essential oil tingles the body and clears the mind. It has its own therapeutic abilities on its own. I’d say this is perfect for our very humid weather. I love the fresh and minty after bath feel that it gives.

The Lavender fragrance is designed for the tired and stressed out souls. It effectively calms the nerves as it never fails to soothe my body every single bath. This makes bathing so much fun! It is my perfect bathing essential just before bedtime.

Proactiv Solution Upgrade Promo

For as long as I can remember, I have always enjoyed the benefits of good genes. This translated to good skin and only occasional zits while growing up. But this does not mean that I know not the horrors of having crazy breakouts. One of my favorite cousins have had this to put up with for the longest time.

One of the things she tried was the Proactiv Solution. We have been seeing this on advertisements on tv but she only got to try it this one time when a relative shipped it to her from the States. And there was no turning back. It was definitely the ultimate zit cure, I should say.

Incidentally, Proactiv Solutions has a current upgrade promotion that allows its patrons to upgrade their Proactiv Kit and avail of the Proactiv Add-on at 50%-60% Discount if you purchase via the Proactiv Online Shopping Cart – Promo is until December 31, 2012.

Proactiv Solution Acne Clearing System (Get a Chance to Win Justin Bieber’s Limited Edition Perfume)

I remember first learning about Proactiv Solution Acne Clearing System through this home tv shopping channel. Even then I would often wonder if their claims were at all true. That is until I heard of my own cousin’s first hand experience with it. It worked just as well for her as it did to a handful of others who claims of getting their once acne-laden face.

Proactiv Solution has been widely endorsed by well known celebrities like Jessica Simpson, Lindsay Lohan and more recently, Julianne Hough and Justin Bieber. And I should say for good reason. With a whole bunch of testimonials out there, aside from my dear cousin’s first hand experience. There are a few more reasons why I think Proactiv Solution Acne Clearing System is worth the try:

  1. Clear Skin Guarantee – this product actually claims to clear your skin off of acne.
  2. The 3-Step System – is a winner! Renewing Cleanser, Revitalizing Toner and Repairing Lotion. While other anti-acne systems will have you do as much as 5 steps, which would often be confusing because there are those for morning and for night time. While all of that’s included in the Proactiv Solution system are all for day and night.
  3. Testimonials – the bunches of people vouching for Proactiv.
  4. Easy to follow application
  5. Money Back Guarantee – Spells out the confidence of the manufacturer of its product. Just how many brands are there exactly that offer this to their patrons? Not a lot, that’s for sure. That alone should be a reason all its own to give it a try.
