French Manicure

French nails was coined in 1975 by a Los-Angeles based Orly International. As for their reason, it could be anything really. Plus the fact that the “French” description can easily mean class and big bucks. That could be the two reasons that I could personally think of, given the fact that the particular nail fashion has absolutely nothing to do with France or the French people, aside from its borrowed name. If there’s anything, this classic nail fashion has been tested through decades of existence. It is still considered classy and elegant up to this day and age.

Its clean and yet polished look makes it a stand out. It seems as if all things French can easily get away with anything. Think about fashion and food for instance. From all those strange but adorable haute couture fashion to those yummy transfat laden fries.

Shopping and Exhibits

I have yet to find a girl who does not love window shopping. Shopping is another thing, but window shopping allows for a girl to canvass pieces and items of what’s new and what’s not. It is part of fashion. Observation.

When you love window shopping, you probably love Custom Trade Show Exhibits as well. I do. It is the ultimate way of companies to get their products out in the open. For one, lasting impressions are important for businesses and a Custom Trade Show Exhibit plan is necessary to make that impact. This is what has got in mind to assist businesses to make that initial impression that we know would last.

A Great Vacation Place

A getaway is something we know we deserve from time to time. Even the “It” girl would love a time spent alone with herself or with her girlfriends. One great site to check out if you may be planning to check out the breathtaking City of Sails is Cheaper than Hotels. Whether it be Auckland Hotels, Christchurch Hotels or Wellington Hotels, you will be sure you get the best rate from this site.

One place you need to consider if you would plan that next vacation – New Zealand’s largest city, Auckland. This place is definitely second to none.

Lovin’ this Bag!

The love for shopping is one of the things a girl naturally loves. It’s like one of those innate things in her. While online shopping has started to make waves many years back, ShopWiki has revolutionized it a notch higher by allowing customers to experience more than just plain shopping online.

Check their luggage section for instance. I love their wide array of selection and they even have tips on buying the luggage that’s right for you. I am looking particularly at the best laptop bag for me and my eyes have favored this pretty Mango-Tango Pink Quilt laptop bag. This is possibly the easiest shopping network that I have found around the blogosphere. They have all the yummy and incredible brands. What’s best is I get to check out how well the items are rated, this practically assures me I’m getting a good buy.

Total Care by Olay

I have been using Olay Total Effects ever since it has made waves a few years back. I then thought it was just one of those beauty products that vows of greatness that will not deliver. I was wrong. At least for me, it completely replaced everything I used back then. I am such a “kikay” at heart that I tend to experiment with just about every new product that comes out in the market, I know it’s not the ideal. It’s good that my face tolerates such experimentation and is not prone to acne when I apply any cream that does not match my type of skin.
But another observation from the several bottles that I have bought: The first few bottles, I felt a real significant difference on my face (less fine lines, smoother feel). But later on, I honestly feel that the makers of this product have become complacent in maintaining the quality of its formulation. It used to be that there was only one formula: the 7 anti-aging therapies formula in a bottle, as how they would have it. But after a while, as with all the other marketing strategies, they have created a need for people to get a hold of a their new products (eye care, day care, night care) which I honestly did not buy any of. It could be that they have toned down on the original benefits so that consumers will feel the need to buy their other product. I’m not really sure. But I’m trusting my instincts and even as I trust my instincts and still keeping on using the same product, I press on to welcome better stuff that may come along to match what the original first batch of Olay products gave us when it first arrived in the Philippines some years back.

Here is Olay’s acclaimed 7 Anti-Aging Therapies Formula:
1. Line Minimization: Reduces the appearance of fine wrinkles.
2. Nourishing Moisturization: For a radiant, healthy glow.
3. Tone Enhancement: Balances color & reduces appearance of age spots.
4. Gentle Exfoliation: Smoothes and evens skin texture.
5. Pore Refinement: Minimizes the appearance of pores.
6. Free Radical Defense: Helps prevent damage to skin’s surface.
7. Subtle Lifting: Hydrates for firmer skin appearance.

SLS and SLES: The Killers in Your Bathroom

This is a follow up post on the dangers of Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLE) and Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES). I hope to give you an overview and not a thesis like explanation on how bad these two regular ingredients are to our health.

SLE is known around the world as a skin irritant. In fact, the primary purpose why SLS is used in clinical studies is to cause skin irritation that can be used to identify the properties of other chemicals. Another clinical report states that some in depth studies have indicated that SLS enters and maintains residual levels in the heart, liver, lungs and brain from skin contact. Which makes our regular use of shampoos, soaps, cleansers and toothpastes with the said chemicals a potential health threat.

SLE and SLES also cause hormonal imbalance, eye irritation, protein denaturing and carcenogenicity. The last two are related that even as these two toxic substances denatures proteins, it heightens the risk of potential to cause pre-cancerous conditions.

This is just an overview of the ill-effects of SLE and SLES to our body. I challenge you to read more on this and search via the internet.

First Step to Buying Jeans

First rule is to determine your body type. For each body type there are corresponding styles that work best. Here’s a quick list to guide you.

  • Slim — Flares are best, also low rises types, tight waists and backs will give you more shape and will also show off your lean silhouette.
  • Curvy — Flares and bootlegs work best to show off your curves.
  • Athletic — Low rises and contoured waists are for you, do away with skinny legs, they make your hips wider and the same with flared legs, they make you look curvier.
  • Full Figure — Experiment on dark washes, bootcuts, and 2% stretch denim will slim, curve, and accentuate your assets. Avoid heavy back-pocket like those of cargo pants if you have a larger behind.
  • Short — Always get your jeans hemmed instead of rolling or cuffing which will just make you look a lot shorter. Use dark washes, these will elongate your legs. For the same reason, do away from cropped jeans, they have the tendency to make your legs look even shorter so consider purchasing one in a dark wash.
  • Long — Look for a brand that works for you and stick with it. (a fresh article on this matter in the coming issues)

MET Tathione Soap

It was April of this year when this blog was barely breathing that I posted a review of the popular MET Tathione Soap. I just thought it fitting to post it afresh. But to avoid duplicate content, I’m providing a link back to my earlier post. (click the link at the bottom of this post)

Not that I need to get even whiter. I have always been fair skinned from the day I was born, my mother would tell me. So getting even fairer was not really my purpose of checking this soap out. It was actually out of desperation that no anti-histamine meds would help allergic bumps to subside, until I used this soap. It may be accidental, but for me it did me good- twice already. So I guess this post has some valid right to go live.

Here is the link to my review of the MET Tathione Soap. For the record, this soap costs roughly PhP500.00 (approx. $12)
